Reactive Power Capability Calculation is a very important part in design and construction of wind power plants and solar power plants.
In Viet Nam, All of power plant must abide by provision of EVN and MOIT. Power curve of power plant need to response power curve set by the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) in order to ensure that Viet Nam power system is operated reliability, stable and safe operation.However the disadvantage of Wind and Solar power plants is that the power curve of these plant can not meet the requirements of EVN due to the characteristics of turbines, characteristics of inverters and converters can’t meet the requirements corresponding amount of reactive power.
Therefore, Power plant need to install capacitor, reactor and SVG equipment to compensate reactive power.
